The Minimum Viable Desert Escape
By @john1208
I went to sleep in my climate-controlled penthouse, nursing a bruised ego after my research partner and ex-boyfriend, Zavash, dumped me on a global broadcast by calling me a 'lazy, parasitic burden.' I expected to wake up, order takeout, and sleep for a week. Instead, I woke up in a rusted dune-buggy dangling off a cliff in the Scorch of Qadash. Enter Kavol: a brooding, obnoxiously muscular desert guide who pulled me from the wreckage and immediately started spouting profound nonsense about 'finding myself in the wilderness.' I don't want to find myself. I want a nap. But with no comms and a fat, rock-eating lizard named Kufra as my only ally, I'm stuck on a brutal road trip with a man determined to heal my soul through the magic of hiking and dehydration. I survive his ridiculous survival tests using basic applied physics just so I can get back to sleeping, only to uncover a wildly inconvenient truth. Zavash didn't dump me for clout - he staged my exile to protect me from an assassination cartel I accidentally provoked. Will I survive this sandy nightmare long enough to save the ex who ruined my life?
