Masks of Sarkand: The Ghost Doctor's Verdict
By @john1208
At the Sarkand Zenith Gala, Kavrin Dal publicly humiliates his wife Taneera, serving her divorce papers and declaring her endless compassion a fatal weakness. Kavrin is desperate: he needs a ruthless syndicate to secure the Vajra Protocol, a massive military contract he secretly plans to hijack to cure the genetic plague ravaging his marginalized home district. Told through alternating third-person perspectives between Taneera and her stoic, terminally ill bodyguard Roshak - who silently loves her - the story follows Kavrin’s tragic descent. To secure the contract, Kavrin first seeks the medical sign-off from the legendary ghost doctor, 'Miracle Hand'. When blocked, he tries to bypass regulations, only to be crushed in the shadow-courts by a terrifying lawyer who has never lost a case. Finally, he hunts for the elusive master designer to build his weapons. As Kavrin corners his adversaries at the Global Armament Conference, the lead designer removes her mask on stage - revealing Taneera. Though her heart aches for Kavrin's noble motive, Taneera and her loyal best friend Osha - secretly an undercover military operative - must dismantle his empire. Can she save his people without letting him become a monster?
