The Cipher in Her Silence
By @john1208
Bogdan Petrescu is a man whose only assets are his sharp memory and a refusal to be intimidated. Hired as the personal assistant to the infamous Knyaginya Teodora Basarab, the iron-fisted ruler of the Voinici syndicate, he expects a life of quiet servitude. Instead, he finds a woman trapped in a gilded cage, her legendary cruelty a shield for a debilitating, secret curse called the 'Hush of Marrow' - a progressive paralysis that steals her voice and movement. When an assassination attempt during a high-stakes auction leaves Teodora vulnerable, Bogdan’s uncanny resemblance to her becomes their only weapon. He agrees to become her public face, her voice, and her hands, communicating with her through a complex system of coded gestures. He plays the part of the merciless crime lord, while she directs his every move from the shadows. But as he navigates a world of brutal politics and cold-blooded revenge, Bogdan sees the brilliant, lonely woman suffering beneath the ice. Can he unravel the conspiracy behind her curse before it consumes her completely, or will becoming her perfect reflection cost him his own soul?
