Requiem of the Obsidian Brush
By @john1208
Heavy rain falls on the grave of the dreaded Heretic Calligrapher, Duanmu Ci. Standing among the mourners is Luo Yin, a blind, wandering musician clutching a battered erhu. But behind the milky eyes lies the calculating mind of Duanmu himself, having ruthlessly swapped bodies with the dying beggar to escape execution. Navigating a grim world of martial sects in eternal darkness, Duanmu is content to play the fool alongside his cowardly, grave-robbing guide, Bao Jin. However, peace is a fragile illusion. When Jing-Ting Ye, the arrogant prodigy of the Lightning Clan, demands they grovel and unleashes a devastating divine sword strike, Duanmu does not panic. He simply drags his fiddle bow through the damp air. Invisible to the eye but heavy with Qi, the moisture forms the character for 'Block'. The mighty lightning sword shatters instantly against thin air. The prodigy is left trembling, convinced he has offended a hidden musical deity. As Duanmu plays his eerie requiems, painting deadly characters in the dark, a grim inquisitor begins to suspect the truth. Can a blind man rewrite his fate before the executioners realize who is truly pulling the strings?
