My Broke Husband Bought a Kill-Zone
By @john1208
Told in alternating third-person perspectives, the story begins when Tazien Ro, a cold and calculating threat assessor, wakes up inside a sealed sensory-deprivation tank in an abandoned lab with missing memories and a target on her back. Desperate for a low-profile alibi, she fills in for her frantic best friend on a blind date. When a snooty waiter tries to eject her seemingly pathetic, shabbily-dressed date, Tazien ruthlessly dissects the waiter's illicit gambling debts to defend him. Instantly smitten, Rurik Danthos - Khavar City’s most lethal and secretive oligarch - decides to play the role of a helpless, devoted husband. As Tazien navigates a dark, tense underworld conspiracy, she believes she is protecting her naive partner. She thinks his sudden ability to afford military-grade security systems is just the result of a 'small lottery win.' But when a coveted underworld reward turns out to be a lethal trap, luring her to a heavily fortified offshore kill-zone, Rurik’s facade shatters. To save his wife, he doesn't just send in a rescue team - he legally purchases the entire island mid-firefight. With the truth revealed and an army at their doorstep, will Tazien kill their enemies, or her deceitful husband first?
