Velvet Grief
By @Bendu Coleman
Anika Carter, a 33-year-old widow and mother of twins, navigates the desolate landscape of grief after losing her high school sweetheart. Burdened by responsibility and a quiet strength, she meticulously rebuilds her life, her gentle demeanor masking a sharp observational wit. When her friends coax her into a night out at the exclusive Velvet Room, Anika's carefully constructed world shatters. There, she encounters Dr. Jaquan Morris, her late husband's oncologist, not as the compassionate physician but as a man veiled in an aura of compelling mystery and controlled power. She sees a raw intensity in him that mirrors a dormant desire within herself. Anika must choose between clinging to her grief-stricken past or venturing into a clandestine world of unspoken desires and dangerous intimacy, where her very perception of control will be tested, risking her heart and her carefully rebuilt life.
