Sovereign of the Ashen Path
By @john1208
I was once Gui Jian, the Sovereign of Ten Thousand Sorrows, a name whispered in terror across the realms. Betrayed during my final tribulation, I was annihilated. Now, I have awakened in the frail body of Wei Chen, a mute slave boy dying in the suffocating dust of the Umbral Quarry. My cultivation is gone, my meridians shattered, but my knowledge remains. They see a timid, broken child, easy to bully and discard. They don't see the mind that commanded armies of phantoms and mastered arts that could unmake reality. My first act in this new life was a simple sword stroke, a forgotten technique that felled a cruel overseer in a blink, an impossible feat that earned me a sliver of freedom. But this 'freedom' came with a price: a pact with a shadowy patron who offers me power. With each victory, their gifts grow more potent, yet I feel an unnerving familiarity in their chilling influence. Am I reclaiming my lost glory, or am I merely becoming a more powerful pawn in my old enemy's game?
