Echoes of the Starving Blade
By @john1208
Qiao Yansheng loved the quiet mornings at the Obsidian Swallow Institute, brewing tea and sweeping the courtyards while others cultivated. That fleeting peace shatters when the Bai clan arrives at dawn to violently break his engagement. They discard him without a second thought, ignoring that Yansheng shattered his own meridians saving his fiancée, Bai Yueli, from a venomous beast. Beaten into the dirt, Yansheng’s blood awakens the rusted fire-poker he was holding. It is the Starving Heaven Cleaver, inhabited by the soul of Yuwen Zhan - a noble, tragic general betrayed centuries ago. To heal Yansheng's meridians, the broken blade must devour the spiritual weapons of his enemies. Though painfully shy, Yansheng’s stubborn refusal to stay down fuels a devastating counterattack against the arrogant heirs who mocked him. Supported by a loudmouthed friend and Mei Chulan, a gentle but fierce senior disciple who captures his heart, Yansheng enters the grand tournament. He shocks the martial world by refining a flawless pill while fast asleep from exhaustion. But as he confronts the arrogant young master who stole his fiancée, the two quests for vengeance merge into one terrifying truth: his rival is the reincarnation of the very traitor who doomed his ancient mentor. Can a quiet boy and a broken ghost find justice in a cruel world?
