The Wandering Brawler and Her Broken Mage
By @john1208
I was just a passing traveler sprinting from angry thugs when I crashed through a courtyard roof and landed squarely on Vondir - the ostracized magical prodigy destined to destroy the world of Shattered Leylines. Seeing the local aristocrats kicking him while he was down offended my pride. So, I did what any reasonable person would do: I violently beat them to a pulp. To stop Vondir from becoming a world-ending calamity, I’ve decided to shower him with aggressive protection. If anyone insults him, they catch my fists. If he looks cold, I forcefully drape him in expensive cloaks. I tell myself I’m just fixing an eyesore, refusing to admit my heart aches for him. My time here is fleeting; soon I must continue my journey, leaving this unspoken, bittersweet love behind. But Vondir isn't the helpless victim I think he is. While he blushes at my scoldings and melts under my harsh warmth, he’s secretly using his forbidden void-magic to permanently erase anyone who crosses me. And as I confide in sweet Healer Ysbel about my impending departure, I don't realize she's the true architect of his misery. Will my fists be enough when the real enemy strikes?
