Wake Me Up When We're Rich
By @john1208
Nineteen-year-old Delancy Vance has one life goal: to officially retire by age twenty. Told in alternating perspectives between Delancy and her reborn sister, Pru, the comedy begins with a spectacular public humiliation at the 1981 Velvet Cove Spring Festival. Pru loudly exposes Delancy's laziness, declaring she will marry the town's wealthiest heir and leave her slacker sister in the dust. Unfazed, Delancy shamelessly yawns and immediately marries Vaughn, a broke mechanic who happens to own an incredibly comfortable velvet hammock.
Delancy's plan is simple: avoid all labor, eat snacks, and nap. Ironically, Vaughn finds her utter refusal to work adorable and grinds tirelessly to fund her lethargic lifestyle. Whenever Delancy whines about minor inconveniences - wishing for a cordless fan or a smaller music box - Vaughn tinkers away, accidentally inventing the decade's biggest electronic hits. While Pru exhausts herself climbing the social ladder, Delancy becomes a pampered millionaire without lifting a finger. But her peaceful early retirement hits a snag when she realizes her beloved, doting guardian, Aunt Hestia, isn't serving her 'sleepy tea' out of love, but to secretly poison her and steal the Vance family land. Can Delancy thwart a criminal mastermind without getting out of bed?
