His Sanctuary's Intruder
By @john1208
Elara Vance's vibrant optimism is a carefully constructed shield. Her grandmother's beloved community art center teeters on the brink of foreclosure, and a lucrative, long-term luxury house-sitting gig is Elara's only hope. She arrives at a sprawling, silent penthouse, ready to bring light to its opulent emptiness, only to discover it's not empty at all. Adrian Thorne, the reclusive, notoriously grumpy tech billionaire who owns the property, is confined there, recovering from a mysterious injury. He believes her an intruder, and she, terrified of losing her lifeline, can’t reveal the depth of her desperation. His piercing gaze, a dangerous promise, makes her breath catch, while the lingering scent of his bespoke cologne in the shared air both repels and fascinates. The silk of the sheets on his bed, the echoing silence, the raw tension whenever he enters a room she thought was her sanctuary - every moment is a tightrope walk. Failure means losing the last tangible piece of her family's love, crumbling under the weight of an old loss she vowed never to repeat. This isn’t just a job; it’s a fight for her soul, trapped in a gilded cage with a man who could either save her or shatter her.
