The Fabricator's Second Cycle
By @john1208
Kaelen Voss was humanity’s last Master Fabricator, a maestro of synth-flesh and ferro-alloy constructs, his creations the only bulwark against the encroaching tide of the parasitic Xylos Swarm. He watched the final bastion fall, his most formidable automatons crumbling to dust as the Swarm consumed Earth Prime. In the crushing silence of defeat, with the planet’s core cracking beneath him, Kaelen activated a desperate, theoretical protocol - a temporal causality loop.
He awakens, not in the scorched ruins of tomorrow, but in the sterile halls of the Elysian Forge, humanity's premier academy for fabrication cadets. This isn't the future he knows; it's decades before the first Xylos incursions, a time of naive optimism and untapped potential. He is no longer the grizzled veteran, but a raw recruit, a blank slate. The knowledge of the future, the blueprints of failure and triumph, are etched into his mind. This time, Kaelen won't just build weapons; he will dismantle protocols, reconstruct alliances, and forge a new future from the remnants of the old. Every resource, every relationship, every ethical boundary is merely raw material for his grand design. This cycle, Kaelen Voss will not just survive; he will engineer victory, no matter the cost to himself or the timeline.
