The line between fiction and reality blurs with every forced arc.

Arthur Finch, a reclusive but brilliant game developer, prides himself on the intricate, living world of 'Veridian Chronicle,' his magnum opus VRMMORPG – a sprawling, near-future dystopia simmering with political intrigue and ancient secrets. Designed to be the ultimate emergent narrative, it was Arthur’s most ambitious project. Yet, one jarring morning, he awoke not in his stark apartment, but amidst the shimmering chrome alleys of his own creation, inhabiting the unassuming body of an obscure NPC: a 'Data Archivist' with no foreseen role in the game's unfolding grand narrative. The world around him is eerily familiar yet subtly wrong, its meticulously crafted code behaving with disturbing autonomy, its AI entities deviating from their programmed paths. His only clue to survival, and perhaps escape, is to meticulously navigate the game’s primary questline, subtly influencing its progression towards a designed conclusion he knows better than anyone. But the line between code and reality blurs with each passing cycle, and the glitches he once exploited as a developer now threaten to unravel his very existence, forcing Arthur to confront the terrifying possibility that his unfinished game has developed a dangerous, unpredictable will of its own.
