Becoming an immortal by touching corpses
By @Llyod
Kael lived in the war-torn lands of Aethel, a land where life was cheap and death, a constant companion. A peculiar curse, or perhaps a blessing, manifested in him after a near-death experience: merely touching the recently deceased granted him fleeting glimpses of their lives, and, more astonishingly, siphoned a fraction of their lingering vitality, slowly pushing him towards an impossible immortality. Initially a terrified recluse, Kael soon discovered this unique ability wasn't just about longevity; it refined his body, sharpened his senses, and awakened dormant spiritual energies. But such power comes at a cost. Whispers of a hidden necromantic sect, ancient guardians seeking to preserve the cycle of life and death, and the ever-present threat of powerful warlords ravenous for unconventional advantages begin to close in. Kael must master his macabre gift, navigate a world that reviles and fears him, and decide if his path to eternal life will save his dying world or condemn it to an even darker fate. He needs to protect himself from those who would exploit his power, while confronting the moral implications of his grim ascent.
