Chapter 39

"Of course it's because of your good brother."
Teenage girls can't stand being wronged. If someone makes them unhappy, they'll retaliate in a more direct way. They might just open their phone and practically shove it in the other person's face.
Sun Xiaoya: "It's obvious he's sick. Xi Siyan couldn't even attend Tingting's birthday party this late at night, which proves that he can't be left alone there. He was finally found by your Yang family, but you didn't want to trouble your parents, since you're still living at the Yang family's house while he's at boarding school with no one around. Since you always say that Xi Siyan is only being polite to you because of the Yang family, you wouldn't mind if he went to help look after him, would you? He should have been surnamed Yang."
These words plunged the room into an endless silence.
They were all pampered kids, and their circle had heard about the Yang family's affairs to some extent, but due to their status and upbringing, they would never say anything to people's faces. However, they would still invite Yang Shule to gatherings and other events.
But Sun Xiaoya's words ripped that fig leaf to shreds.
Yang Shule's expression finally couldn't hold up any longer.
He stared at Sun Xiaoya and said, "I know you hate me because of what happened back then, but I've already explained that I had no idea that Liao Tingting was going to confess to Ayan that day."
Liao Tingting, who was caught in the crossfire, turned deathly pale, her face contorted with embarrassment at being exposed in public.
Sun Xiaoya was furious and yelled, "Yang Shule, are you out of your mind?! Addicted to acting? And you call yourself Ayan? Ayan is not a name you can use! You're nothing but a thief who stole someone else's identity and flaunts it everywhere. You've got guts, why don't you leave the Yang family!"
Everyone watched as Yang Shule stared intently at Sun Xiaoya for a few seconds, then said, "Sun Xiaoya, why are you standing up for Chen Mo? Did I force him to live at school? He's been in the limelight lately and suddenly he's sick and can't walk. Only an idiot like you would believe that!"
Yang Shule's barely controlled emotions were truly unexpected to many.
After all, when Yang's youngest son used to frequent the banquet hall, everyone's impression of him was that he was humble, polite, and sincere.
But Yang Shule couldn't stand it.
When he saw the video in the group, he couldn't hold back any longer.
Many things have been making him feel uneasy lately.
His older brother, who had never visited his school before, made a special trip for Chen Mo last time.
Chen Mo's parents also asked him why he didn't come home for the weekend.
More importantly, it is the banquet master.
They became deskmates, stood up for him in math class, and even tried to help him get into the top ten in the grade.
He spent the whole evening at the banquet in front of the Xi family elders, and then Chen Mo appeared at the hospital with Xi Siyan.
How did things gradually turn out this way?
He went from being bewildered to beginning to feel a growing sense of fear.
The outside world seems to have turned upside down.
In a typical hospital ward, the lights were already off.
After finishing the IV drip, Chen Mo, who felt no discomfort, lay on the single bed, feeling drowsy. Just as he was about to fall asleep, he heard a slight sound coming from the folding bed, and his eyeballs trembled slightly beneath his closed eyes.
It's like being awake, yet not quite awake.
"Ignore me and say, 'Is your Simmons mattress not soft enough, or are you being pampered by a dozen servants? You're going to suffer like this just to avoid a girl you admire? Is a folding bed comfortable?'"
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard the person on the folding bed turn over.
A soft snort rang out.
"It's quite comfortable and refreshing."
"What's wrong with you? Then don't turn over, you're keeping me awake."
"Tsk." The person on the folding bed seemed annoyed, but the sound of their breathing calming down again nearby made them swallow their words.
The ward fell silent once again.
Only the faint glow of the phone screen flickered, along with a soft, slightly amused remark.
"It's obvious that only you can sleep."
I am undisturbed by anything, and I disdain to know anything.
Chapter 18
The next day, Saturday, was a beautiful day.
When Chen Mo opened his eyes, he only saw the morning light streaming in through the window. The crisp chirping of birds was accompanied by the faint sounds of people downstairs. It took him a while to realize where he was.
There was no one on the folding bed.
On the bedside table to Chen Mo's left was a bowl of white porridge, still steaming slightly.
He got up and picked up his phone.
When I opened it, I realized that my phone was almost bursting with messages after a whole night.
He was tagged by many people in the school's chat group, which was already muted. He casually scrolled through the messages and realized that the video from last night had been posted online. Many classmates went from guessing and getting excited to being shocked when the identity was finally revealed.
Many people I don't even know send me friend requests.
Chen Mo glanced at them briefly and didn't approve any of them.
My finger finally rested on the two most recently added contacts on WeChat.
The profile picture at the top is a sunflower under a blue sky, and the WeChat name is: Delusions.
The profile picture below is a travel photo: a tree standing alone between heaven and earth, bathed in the glow of a fiery sunset. It looks like a casual snapshot, yet it has a certain artistic flair. The WeChat name is also quite random: XSY.
When the two profile pictures were placed side by side, Chen Mo gave a meaningful but ambiguous twitch at the corner of his mouth. Yang Shule's secret thoughts, placed at the high school stage, always had a touch of youthful pain and genuine emotion.
Although he didn't know why Yang Shule wanted to add him, and wasn't interested in knowing, he ignored the person above and clicked "agree" on the "add" button below.
The reason for adding it was: I have to leave early, remember to eat breakfast.
If he doesn't comply, he'll look like an ingrate.
After adding him as a friend, Chen Mo sent him a message: "Thank you for the porridge."
The person on the other end was doing something, but they replied quite quickly.
"woke up?"
"Or should I thank you with my thoughts?"
"Arguing so early in the morning, that bowl of porridge cost at least two yuan."
