The problem with his knee wasn't too noticeable that year, and he guessed it was because he had suddenly come into contact with cold water. For safety's sake, he didn't continue and instead headed towards the shore.
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out at the pool entrance.
"Why can't we come in?"
"Shule, is your swimming pool unusable? It's so hot, it would be perfect for playing in the water."
Next came Yang Shule's strange questioning of the servant.
The servants were in an extremely difficult position.
Everyone knew that Chen Mo wasn't the same as before these past two days. The old master of the Yang family had just visited and almost cost them their jobs. Since Chen Mo said no one could enter, the servants genuinely didn't dare let anyone in.
"Young Master Shule, Young Master Mo is inside," the maid whispered.
Yang Shule's face immediately turned extremely ugly, especially since the commotion had attracted a lot of people who had gathered around.
Yang Shule: "Open the door."
The servant didn't move.
Yang Shule felt that Chen Mo was deliberately trying to embarrass him. He rarely lost his temper with the servants in his house, but now he was so angry that his face turned red. "I said open it!"
The maid hesitated for a long time, trembling with fear, before finally pushing open the door.
The gate slowly opened before everyone's eyes.
A figure was seen splashing out of the water, emerging from the pool dripping wet.
The man standing on the shore, bending over and looking up, had an extremely weary look in his dark eyes. He slowly spoke, "Whoever dares to step through this door today, let me try."
Chapter 7
Everyone standing outside felt a chill run down their spine.
For some reason, despite being around the same age, whether they had met him in person or heard about him from others, the Chen Mo they had imagined should not be the person in front of them who could scare everyone away with just a single sentence.
"Chen Mo, what exactly do you want?" Yang Shule's hand gripping the door frame turned white from the force.
His voice could no longer conceal the tremor in his voice.
She was extremely angry, and also felt ashamed.
Those glaring gazes felt like countless slaps to his face.
Just then.
"What's all this commotion about?" a voice suddenly came from behind.
It was Yang Zhi.
When the eldest brother of the Yang family, who hadn't been home, appeared, the group naturally dispersed to both sides, and everyone realized that he seemed to have been back for quite some time. However, Xi Siyan was standing next to him, and the two seemed to know each other well; their conversation was interrupted by the farce.
These two people, who are several years apart in age, don't look out of place standing together at all.
One had a furrowed brow, while the other remained indifferent, his expression calm.
"Brother," Yang Shule called softly.
His gaze swept over the other person next to Yang Zhi, and he suppressed his resentment, explaining, "My classmate wanted to go into the pool to play, but the maid at home wouldn't let him in."
Chen Mo's name wasn't mentioned in any of the sentences, but anyone with eyes could tell who was the person preventing people from entering.
Seeing Yang Shule's forced composure, her eyes even reddening, Yang Zhi's gaze towards Chen Mo was filled with displeasure. Just as he was about to say something, he looked up and saw someone, only to find that the figure in the distance was unusually cold.
Upon meeting their gaze, I found no emotion or ripples within.
He never felt anything for Chen Mo, his so-called blood brother. From the first moment he found him in the countryside, he knew that they were very similar in some ways. His brother, Yang Zhi, should be a smart kid like Shu Le, who was unruly at home but well-mannered and respected by everyone outside.
His cleverness can be used to win his parents' favor, or to show off his brother's little tricks to outsiders. He is talented enough to be the shining youngest son of the Yang family, and he is also considerate enough to his family.
But he would never use his intelligence to fight for power or to challenge the authority of a large family.
Chen Mo is different.
That scene, a momentous change for everyone, was accompanied by torrential rain. Yang Zhi could clearly see the shock, confusion, and finally, anger mixed with resentment in his younger brother's eyes.
Therefore, Chen Mo is destined not to receive the same treatment as Shu Le.
But for some reason, something went wrong. Chen Mo didn't come home all night on Friday, and things started to change, get lost, and disappear.
The company was very busy today, with many things waiting for him, the future successor of the Yang family, to handle.
But he still managed to come back during his lunch break.
When asked by his assistant, he only said that Xiao Le had a class reunion today and was worried that he wouldn't be able to handle it alone. When he told his assistant this, he felt that it was indeed the case.
But for some reason, when I entered the house, I subconsciously looked for another person in the house.
Upon hearing the commotion, he ignored the hint of relief beneath his displeasure, a feeling of relief that seemed to vanish. He thought to himself, "That's right, this is exactly the kind of person my younger brother is. If he doesn't cause trouble and embarrass himself in this kind of situation, he wouldn't be Chen Mo."
The view that was within reach was not quite what he had imagined.
Yang Zhi maintained his authority as the eldest son of the Yang family, his brows furrowed, clearly displeased. Unfortunately, before he could utter any words of reprimand, Qi Li, standing next to Yang Shule, jumped in first.
He stood at a point where Yang Zhi could clearly see him, a mocking expression on his face. "Chen Mo, you're being far too domineering. Shu Le specially invited so many classmates over today; you've gone too far. It's one thing to target Shu Le on ordinary days, but just because he's not as assertive as you, knows more than you, and has better relationships with his classmates, you bully him. With so many classmates watching today, and your older brother here too, don't even think about pushing your luck!"
In the brief moment when Qi Liyi was righteously and loudly condemning the attack, everyone watched as the person inside did several things.
He casually unfolded the bathrobe from the chair and draped it over his shoulders.
She shook her hair and casually wiped it a few times with a towel.
Then, he turned around, reached into the pool, and pulled up a familiar guy who was staring in disbelief.
He didn't say anything.
