Pravin Trakhara stormed through the Spire’s lower levels, his boot heels striking the polished quartz with sharp snaps. He blew past Somchai, who doubled over in a rigid bow. The Head Steward had just found his pantry clearance voided, replaced with a single message: [ACCESS DENIED. USER CLASSIFICATION: PEST_CONTROL. REFER TO COMMON_REFECTORY_3B FOR NUTRITION GUIDANCE]. Somchai kept his nose to the floor while Pravin surged toward the lift, flanked by six private guards. Each mercenary wore the charcoal uniform of the Ayuthara Compliance Bureau, carrying stun rods set to disrupt biological implants and hardwired nodes alike. Their expressions remained fixed and vacant.
"He's upstairs," Pravin spat into the lift's microphone grille. “Penthouse. Strip him of every clan privilege. Purge him from the roster. Make him regret this impertinence."
The carriage, re-routed by Virot's script to prioritize guest lavatory traffic, stalled before shifting upward. It ascended with a reluctant sigh of pneumatics, finally depositing them directly into what Virot now called the ‘Strategic Command Zone.’
Virot, still on the floor, had only shifted slightly, propping his head against a plush cushion Narija had tossed him. He tapped a cracked slate, its screen casting pale blue across the rug. Narija sat opposite him with her ankles crossed, studying the Spire schematic Virot had cast onto the wall. A smirk touched her mouth when the brass lift doors parted.
Pravin burst forth, his tailored tunic rumpled, his face a mask of theatrical rage. “Virot Trakhara!” His voice boomed, rattling the expensive art on the walls. “You think this is some playground? You think you can simply overwrite my life, reclassify my heritage, and then lounge about in my home like a common vagrant? This is not a game, you ignorant street urchin! This is reality! The Trakhara legacy! And you, a glitch in the system, will be expunged!”
Virot never looked up from his screen. “Terrible dialogue,” he muttered, more to Narija than Pravin. “Generic villain monologue, sub-standard delivery. Needs a rewrite. Zero character development.”
Narija stifled a snort. “He’s certainly committed to the role.”
Pravin’s face purpled. “You dare ignore me? I am Pravin Trakhara! I am the legitimate heir!” He gestured wildly at the enforcers. “These men will teach you the weight of your meddling. They are the family's muscle!"
The guards moved in, their crackling truncheons throwing pale static against the walls. They formed a semicircle, their shadows looming over Virot and Narija. The air grew thick with a subtle electromagnetic hum.
"Ah, low-level mobs," Virot said, leaning his chin on one knuckle. He swept a dull glance over the line of clubs. “Standard blunt-force intimidation tactics. Low-skill pathing. Predictable aggro range. Is there an elite unit coming, or is this it for the first wave?”
A square-jawed guard with a split eyebrow took a heavy step out. His rod hissed. "Sign the relinquishment papers, orphan. Or we burn your bio-link so raw you won't even register on a street scanner."
“Relinquishment protocols? Is that a mini-game objective or a new UI element?” Virot entered three short command lines, his fingers flicking across the glass. “I appreciate the flavour text, but it’s a bit on the nose. Also, you guys clearly haven’t read the patch notes. The ‘scrub your bio-network’ threat is so last-cycle. We're in the era of systemic de-incentivization."
Narija watched, fascinated. She could sense Virot wasn’t bluffing, but she had no idea what he was doing. Pravin, however, looked utterly bewildered. “What is he talking about? Just seize him! Disable his devices!”
The lead guard lunged, swinging his charged club. Virot, with an almost imperceptible flick of his wrist, completed his input. A cascade of error strings ripped across the Spire's private mesh. The guard froze mid-lunge, the tip halting two inches from Virot's forehead. His gaze dropped as a sharp beep cut from his cuff.
All six operatives flinched in unison, their shoulders slumping as confusion hit them. Glares shifted down to sleeves and glowing retinas as a discord of warnings sang through the suite.

Six truncheons slipped from numb fingers and clattered onto the hardwood floor. The hirelings tapped frantically at their forearms, sweat breaking out across their brows. The squad leader stumbled backward, stammering, "My line of credit... gone. Everything. My children's school tuition. The apartment deed."
A woman behind him grabbed her collar. "My mesh link dropped! My front door won't unlock. My citizen profile is... null!"
They stood in a trembling knot, their fitted jackets hanging limp, neutralized by four lines of text. Their standing in Ayuthara's elite registry had simply ceased to exist.
“See?” Virot yawned, leaning back against the cushion. "Social de-incentivization. Much cleaner than throwing punches. Zero structural damage. Pravin never budgeted enough hazard pay for a hard wipe. Always inspect your NPC loyalty stats."
Pravin stared, mouth hanging open, as his personal squad scrambled over each other to squeeze back into the lift, frantic to locate an open relay and salvage what remained of their names. One kicked a dropped truncheon across the carpet in his hurry. The elevator chime swallowed their panicked voices as the doors shut.
Narija glanced at Virot, an amused curve to her mouth. "You wiped their entire profile? From a cracked slate?"
"Not difficult with root permissions on the city spine," Virot said with a shrug. "Their accounts routed straight through Trakhara parent funds. Pravin never compartmentalized payroll. Pure amateur build. Can we review his phase-two abilities now, or does he only spawn trash mobs?"
Pravin stood alone, humiliation washing over him, his theatrical rage curdling into something cold and poisonous. His security, his prestige, his very authority, had been dismantled by a chronically tired orphan with a tablet. The sting of defeat was sharper than any blade. His eyes fixed on Virot, a silent promise of annihilation. He withdrew his personal comm-slate, its casing vibrating with system errors, and backed into the shadowy hallway. He brought the slate close to his mouth, his voice a low, venomous whisper, almost swallowed by the sudden silence.
"This isn't a game, Virot," he muttered into the mic. "You want virtual warfare? Fine. Run Project Cerberus. Clearance: Red Zero. Target: Virot Trakhara. Priority: Lethal deletion protocol."
