Chapter 2: His Time Has Come

A few moments later, a call came through for Jacob, a reminder of a life he had left behind. "Sir," a warm voice said. "Compensation for the past four years has been arranged for you, totaling over nine hundred million US dollars. In addition, a Spanish Restaurant, a karaoke center, and a five-star hotel have all been purchased in your name." "You can head to the Sterling Bank and speak with a Mr. Sterling to manage your funds. Everything has been set up, Sir. I have also arranged for a scooter for you." The warmth in Rose's voice settled the storm inside Jacob. Four years, he thought. As the heir to this fortune, it's time for my return. I tried to live a simple life among you, but you met my humility with cruelty. Now, I'll show you my true power. Within half an hour, Jacob arrived at the local Sterling Bank branch, still in his dusty work clothes. He planned to withdraw a small amount for pocket money and leave the rest for Mr. Sterling to manage. The bank was crowded. Not wanting to draw any attention to himself, Jacob decided against immediately seeking out the bank manager and instead took a number from the queue. A woman in a crisp bank uniform approached him. She moved with a practiced sway of her hips, her high heels clicking sharply on the polished floor. "Excuse me, sir, my name is Shelly. How can I help you today?" "I'd like to make a withdrawal," Jacob replied. "My apologies, sir, but as you can see, we're very busy today. You can use the ATM to save time. We appreciate your understanding." "The ATM has a withdrawal limit. I need to use the counter," Jacob stated simply. He had followed the rules and taken a number. Why should he be asked to give up his place? "Sir, the tellers are handling very large transactions. Please, just use the ATM," Shelly insisted, her tone taking on a dismissive edge. Her gaze swept over Jacob, taking in his worn-out clothes and scuffed boots. He was just a delivery man. She couldn't afford to waste time on him that could be spent on wealthier clients. "Then why are they allowed to use the counter?" Jacob asked, gesturing toward the line of tellers. "They are withdrawing large sums of money, sir. Over one million dollars," Shelly said, folding her arms with an air of arrogance. A flicker of confusion crossed Jacob's face. One million dollars is considered a large amount?
