The next morning, the city seemed louder than usual.
Every television in the cafés was talking about Luca Moretti.
Every news article mentioned the "mystery woman."
And every social media page seemed to have another blurry photo of them together.
Maya sighed as she unlocked the door to Élégance Perfumerie.
She loved this little shop. It had always been her quiet place, filled with soft music and the comforting scent of fresh flowers and warm vanilla.
Now it felt like the whole world had found its way inside.
Just as she finished turning on the lights, the bell above the door chimed.
She looked up.
"Luca?"
He stood in the doorway wearing a navy hoodie and a baseball cap, holding a small paper bag behind his back.
"I know..." he said with a sheepish smile. "I probably shouldn't be here."
"You definitely shouldn't," Maya teased.
"So... should I leave?"
She pretended to think about it.
"Hmm... maybe."
Luca slowly turned toward the door, dramatically hanging his head.
"I guess this is goodbye."
Maya laughed.
"Oh, stop being so dramatic."
He smiled and walked over to the counter.
"I brought you something."
He revealed the paper bag.
Inside was a warm chocolate croissant and a cup of hot chocolate.
Her eyes lit up.
"You remembered."
"You once told me this is your favorite breakfast whenever you've had a bad day."
Maya looked at him, surprised.
"You actually listened."
"I listen to everything you say."
A blush warmed her cheeks.
"You make that sound very romantic."
"That's because it is."
She laughed, shaking her head.
"You know," she said, "for someone who's supposed to be charming actor, you're kind of cheesy."
"Only around one person."
"And who's that?"
Luca stepped a little closer.
"You."
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
The perfume shop felt wonderfully quiet again.
Maya smiled as she took a sip of her hot chocolate.
"It's perfect."
"I hoped you'd like it."
"I love it."
Luca smiled.
"I wasn't talking about the hot chocolate."
Maya looked up, meeting his warm brown eyes.
"Oh?"
"I was talking about this."
He gently reached for her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers across the counter.
"You make ordinary days feel like my favorite ones."
Her heart fluttered.
Without thinking, she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him.
Luca hugged her back, resting his chin lightly on top of her head.
"I've spent years protecting my career, my reputation, and my dreams..."
he whispered with a grin.
"But somehow..."
He pulled back just enough to look into her eyes.
"....I have someone I want to protect more than anything."
Maya laughed softly, her cheeks turning pink.
"You really do have the cheesiest lines."
"Do they work?"
She smiled.
"They're getting there."
Luca chuckled.
"I'll keep practicing."
"Good," Maya replied, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.
"Because I plan on being around long enough to hear every single one."
Outside, the world was still watching.
But inside Élégance Perfumerie, surrounded by the scent of roses, vanilla, and jasmine, they forgot about the cameras, the headlines, and the noise.
For a little while, it was just an actor...
...and the girl who had quietly become the most important person in his world.
