Chapter 3 of 8

Crimson Vows, Emerald Dawn

907 words

A guttural roar ripped through the twilight. Blazen flinched, instincts screaming. The massive shadow-beast, all jagged claws and gnashing teeth, lunged towards him. Its form shifted, liquid darkness coiling, ready to strike. Fear, cold and sharp, seized Blazen's chest. Then, a crimson blur. Seraphina moved with impossible speed. Her greatsword, previously resting at her side, became a streak of concentrated light. The air crackled around her, a faint hum of raw power resonating. She met the beast mid-air. No hesitation. No wasted motion. Her attack was a singular, focused explosion of force. Steel sang. A piercing shriek tore from the shadow-beast as Seraphina’s blade carved a glowing path through its ethereal form. Dark particles, like ash, erupted from the wound, scattering into the wind. The creature recoiled, its amorphous body momentarily destabilized. It roared again, this time with an edge of pain, confusion. Seraphina didn't give it a chance to recover. She spun, a graceful, deadly pirouette. Her greatsword arced in a wide, devastating sweep. The crimson glow intensified, painting her determined features in stark relief. Another strike. This one even more powerful. The beast, still reeling, tried to defend, but its shadowy limbs passed harmlessly through Seraphina’s solid form. Her blade, however, was terrifyingly real. It cleaved through the creature’s torso. A sickening rending sound, not of flesh, but of raw magical energy tearing apart. The shadow-beast imploded, its massive form disintegrating into a swirling vortex of dark motes. Silence descended. Only the faint whistling of the wind remained, carrying away the last vestiges of the beast. Blazen stared, mouth agape, his heart hammering against his ribs. He watched the dark particles dissipate, a knot forming in his stomach. This was his entity. This was the power of his Ultimate Lord Heart. Seraphina, standing tall and unwavering, her greatsword now resting, shimmering, embodied it all. Her combat prowess was staggering. Unbelievable. He had called her, but the sheer, brutal efficiency of her power was beyond anything he could have imagined. His first entity. She was magnificent, terrifying. Protective resolve surged through him. A new, unfamiliar warmth spread in his chest. He had brought her here, bound her to his will. He owed her more than just a command. He owed her a dominion worthy of her strength. Understanding settled deep within him. His gentle nature, his femboy form – none of that mattered to the swirling chaos of the Hundred World Paradise. Power mattered. Control mattered. He needed to master this unique gift, not just for his own survival, but for the formidable women now bound to him. Villagers, who had cowered behind makeshift barricades, slowly emerged. Their faces, pale with lingering terror, now twisted into a complex mix of awe and fear. Their eyes, once dismissive, were fixed on Blazen, then on Seraphina. Whispers began to ripple through the crowd. “The femboy lord…” a man breathed, his voice barely audible. But the words carried a new weight. A new respect. A new, terrifying deference. Their previous disdain, their casual dismissal of him, evaporated like mist in the morning sun. They had witnessed raw power, wielded on his behalf. Seraphina, a towering figure of crimson and steel, was his proof. Blazen felt the shift. It was palpable, a change in the very air. He was no longer just the peculiar, gentle femboy from the outskirts. He was a Lord, even if an unconventional one. And he had a protector who could cleave darkness itself. Taking a deep breath, Blazen straightened his posture. He met their gazes, a newfound firmness in his own. “Is everyone alright?” His voice was steady, projecting an authority he hadn’t known he possessed moments before. A few villagers nodded, still too stunned to speak clearly. Others murmured their thanks, their eyes darting between him and Seraphina. Blazen knew this was only the beginning. He had to secure their trust, solidify his position. “We need to fortify these defenses,” Blazen announced, gesturing towards the crude wooden barriers. “That beast was a scout, I believe. More might come. We must be ready.” Seraphina moved, her footsteps soft despite her heavy armor. She approached Blazen, her crimson eyes meeting his. “As you command, Lord.” Her voice, though calm, held an underlying power that sent a shiver down his spine. Her loyalty was absolute. It was a terrifying, exhilarating realization. He had to be worthy of it. He had to build something strong enough to protect them all. --- Days turned into a grueling routine. Blazen, fueled by his new resolve, oversaw the strengthening of the village. He directed the villagers with surprising efficiency, utilizing the small resources they had. Seraphina, ever vigilant, patrolled the perimeter, her presence alone deterring any further shadowy incursions. Blazen spent hours studying the faded maps he’d inherited, pouring over ancient texts that spoke of the Hundred World Paradise. He needed to understand this world, its dangers, and the full extent of his own power. The Ultimate Lord Heart hummed faintly within him, a constant, low thrum. He learned to sense its subtle energies, to feel the threads of connection to Seraphina. It was like an extension of himself, a new limb. He tried to amplify other things, small plants, a crumbling wall. The results were inconsistent, sometimes a burst of power, sometimes nothing. Frustration pricked at him. He knew the potential was immense, but controlling it was like trying to grasp smoke. He needed guidance, or perhaps just time. Time he didn't feel he had. One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery hues, Blazen stood atop a newly reinforced watchtower. The village below, though still humble, felt more secure. The villagers, though wary, looked at him with something akin to hope. Seraphina stood beside him, her silhouette sharp against the fading light. She was a silent guardian, a testament to his burgeoning power. He looked at her, then out at the vast, untamed wilderness that surrounded them.
