Chapter 4 of 4

After the lights off

The front door clicked securely shut as the final couple gave their last warm hugs and vanished into the quiet hallway outside. Instantly, the heavy silence of the night settled over the apartment, standing in sharp contrast to the hours of music, laughter, and heavy bass that had filled the space just moments before. Confetti littered the hardwood floor, melted candles sat in pools of wax, and empty glasses covered every flat surface, all bathed in the faint neon glow of the fading party decor. Paris let out a long sigh, reaching back to unbuckle her heels before kicking them off near the sofa. She sank deeply into the cushions with a tired laugh. Adam unbuttoned his collar completely, walking over to sit beside her. He stretched his arm along the back of the couch, pulling her back against his chest until her head rested against his shoulder. "We actually pulled it off," Paris murmured, tracing a slow pattern against his forearm as her eyes drifted shut. "Never doubted it for a second," Adam whispered, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her forehead. Outside, the city remained quiet under the dark night sky. Inside, the audience was completely gone, the apartment was finally still, and the two of them sat together in the warm silence, content to let the rest of the world fade away for the night.
