Cold metal bit into the flesh of her left ankle.
Shivering, Y/N sat up in the massive, rumpled bed, the expensive silk sheets slipping down her chest. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she pulled her leg up, staring at the dark titanium band locked securely around her skin.
A tiny, pulsing blue light blinked near the clasp.
This was not jewelry.
Fear, cold and sharp, replaced the lingering warmth of the passionate night they had just shared. Only hours ago, she had surrendered to Namjoon entirely, believing his whispered promises of safety and devotion. Now, she felt like a tagged animal.
Anger surged, hot and sudden, drowning out her panic.
Footsteps echoed from the hallway, heavy and deliberate. Namjoon stepped into the bedroom, a white towel draped around his broad shoulders. Damp strands of dark hair fell over his forehead, and his chest was bare, showing the faint, fading scratches she had left there in the heat of their embrace.
He smiled when he saw her, a warm, dimpled expression that usually made her melt.
"You're awake," Namjoon said, his voice deep and raspy from sleep. "I was just getting us some breakfast."
"What is this?" Y/N demanded, her voice trembling as she pointed a shaking finger at her leg.
Namjoon’s smile vanished, replaced by a calm, unreadable mask. He didn't look guilty. He walked over to the edge of the bed and sat down, his massive frame sinking into the mattress. He reached out to touch her knee, but she flinched away from his hand.
"It’s a security measure," he said softly, his tone entirely reasonable.
"It’s a tracking device," she fired back, her chest heaving. "You locked me in a leash, Namjoon! How could you do this? After last night... after everything I gave you..."
"Listen to me," he murmured, leaning forward so she was forced to look into his intense, dark eyes. "The security breach at the gallery yesterday was worse than the media reported. Two stalkers bypassed the perimeter. They knew you were there. They were looking for you."
Instinctively, she pressed her back against the headboard, feeling smaller than ever under his towering shadow.
"So you decide to tag me like a stray dog?" she whispered, tears of frustration stinging her eyes. "Without my permission? Without even asking?"
"If I asked, you would have said no," Namjoon countered calmly. "You would have run. You always run when things get difficult, Y/N. I cannot risk your safety because of your pride."
"This isn't about pride!" she cried out, her voice cracking. "This is about my freedom! You are suffocating me!"
Quietly, Namjoon moved closer, his large, warm hands gently but firmly clamping around her waist. He pulled her toward him despite her resistance, burying his face in the crook of her neck. His breath was warm against her skin, a stark contrast to the icy titanium around her ankle.
"I am keeping you alive," he muttered against her throat, his grip tightening just enough to let her know he wasn't letting go. "You don't understand the world I live in. You don't understand how quickly people can tear you apart. I will do whatever it takes to protect you."
"Even if it means locking me up?" she asked, her voice hollow.
"It's for your own good," he whispered, kissing the sensitive spot beneath her ear.
He believed it. That was the most terrifying part. He truly believed his obsession was a form of love, a shield to protect her from the harsh realities of his fame.
Looking at him, Y/N felt a profound sense of dread. His love was a beautiful, gilded prison. It was made of five-star luxury, soft sheets, and a man who worshipped her body, but it was still a cage. If she stayed, she would slowly lose her independence, her career, and her very identity in his massive shadow.
Suddenly, the ring of Namjoon's phone broke the heavy tension in the room.
He sighed, pulling back with obvious reluctance. He checked the screen, his jaw tightening as he saw the caller ID. It was his agency's head of security.
"I have to take this downstairs," he said, leaning in to press a firm, possessive kiss to her lips. "Don't go anywhere. We will talk more when I get back."
She didn't answer. She just stared at him with cold, distant eyes.
Once the door clicked shut behind him, Y/N scrambled out of the bed. Her feet hit the cold hardwood floor, the heavy anklet clinking softly with every step. She felt a desperate need to escape, to prove to herself that she was not his possession.
Walking over to her discarded tote bag in the corner of the room, she dumped its contents onto Namjoon's large, polished mahogany desk. Among her personal items was her portable art restoration kit—a small leather pouch filled with precision tools she used for delicate canvas and frame repairs.
She unzipped the pouch, her fingers searching through the instruments.
Fine steel tweezers, micro-spatulas, and a set of high-tensile strength dental-style picks lay before her. Restoring centuries-old oil paintings required a surgeon's precision, immense focus, and an absolute understanding of delicate mechanical structures.
Sitting in his leather office chair, she lifted her left leg, resting her ankle on the edge of the seat. She examined the high-tech clasp of the tracking device. It was seamless, designed to resist tampering, but every electronic lock had a mechanical backup core in case of power failure.
With a steady hand, she located a microscopic pinhole hidden near the pulsing blue LED light.
She selected her thinnest steel restoration probe and a pair of tension tweezers. Her heart was beating in her throat, but her hands remained perfectly still. She had spent years working on fragile, multi-million dollar masterpieces where a single millimeter of error could ruin everything. This was no different.
Carefully, she inserted the probe into the pinhole, feeling for the internal tumbler. She applied a gentle, upward tension with the tweezers.
Nothing happened.
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, relying entirely on her sense of touch. She felt the tiny metal teeth inside the lock shift. She adjusted the angle of the probe, applying a fraction of a millimeter more pressure.

The heavy titanium band popped open with a soft hiss of released pressure.
Relief washed over her, so intense it made her dizzy. She pulled the device off her ankle, rubbing the faint red mark it had left on her skin.
To prove her independence, Y/N uses her art restoration skills to lockpick the high-tech clasp of the anklet, leaving it resting on Namjoon's empty desk before slipping out.
