SETTING: THE NEW APARTMENT - NIGHT A few hours later. The apartment is mostly dark, lit only by the streetlights outside the window and the floor lamp Paris brought up. Boxes are still everywhere, but a small space has been cleared in the middle of the living room floor. CHARACTERS: ADAM: Relaxed, sitting cross-legged on the floor. PARIS: Leaning against Adam's shoulder, holding a plastic container of takeout. [SCENE START] (The apartment is quiet except for the distant sound of traffic outside. PARIS takes a bite of food, staring at the blank wall across from them.) PARIS It echoes. ADAM That’s because we don't have a rug yet. Or a couch. Or curtains. PARIS I kind of like it. It feels like we're camping. ADAM Camping with a functioning bathroom and a delivery app. My kind of nature. (PARIS laughs softly, setting the food container down and shifting so they are leaning fully against Adam's side. He puts an arm around their shoulder, pulling them close.) PARIS It's weird. I thought I'd feel more stressed about all of this. Change usually makes me a little crazy. But sitting here on a dirty floor surrounded by trash... I just feel completely fine. ADAM That's because you're stuck with me now. You don't have time to be stressed; you have to focus on how you're going to survive my snoring every single night. PARIS (Looking up at him) I've stayed over enough to know your habits, Adam. I bought earplugs three weeks ago. ADAM (Grinning) Always three steps ahead. PARIS Always. (They look around the empty, dark room, their voice dropping to something quiet and content.) Thanks for pushing for this. I don't think I would have had the guts to say it first. ADAM (Kisses the top of Paris's head) Anytime. Welcome home, Paris. PARIS Welcome home.
