Chapter 1 of 5

The Boy From Gary

265 words

August 29, 1958. Gary, Indiana. In a small house on 2300 Jackson Street, a star was born. The seventh child of the Jackson family, Michael Joseph Jackson, came into a world full of music. His childhood wasn't easy. The house was small, money was tight, and his father Joseph believed in strict discipline. But inside that little house, there was something magical - music. Young Michael would watch his older brothers - Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon - rehearse for hours. He was only 5 years old, but his eyes sparkled when he heard the beat. One day, his mother Katherine found him singing quietly in the closet, imitating his brothers. His voice was different. It was pure, powerful, and full of soul. A voice that didn't belong to a child. At age 6, Michael joined his brothers. The Jackson 5 was born. People in Gary couldn't believe it. This little boy could sing, dance, and perform like someone who had been on stage for 20 years. When he moved, it was like gravity forgot him. When he sang, time stopped. Motown Records soon called. Berry Gordy himself said, "This kid is going to be the biggest star in the world." Michael didn't just want to sing. He wanted to be the best. He would practice dance steps until his feet bled. He would study the moves of James Brown, Fred Astaire, and Diana Ross for hours. Little did the world know, this shy, humble boy from Gary would soon teach the entire world how to moonwalk. This is where the legend began. To be continued...
