Chapter 1: The First Spark

Sunlight slanted through the high classroom windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Chatter filled the room, a low hum of adolescent energy. Pencils scratched against paper, whispers traded secrets, and a few daring souls scrolled through phones under their desks. It was just another Tuesday afternoon.
Sebastian, as usual, seemed intent on disrupting the peace. He bounced a rubber eraser off the back of Mateo's head, then stifled a laugh when Mateo spun around, eyes narrowed. A flicker of mischief always played in Sebastian's eyes, a restless energy that rarely allowed him to sit still. His chair scraped as he shifted, a constant, low rumble.
Kevin and Luan, oblivious to Sebastian's antics, hunched over a shared textbook. Their heads were close, dark hair almost touching, as they tackled the complicated algebra equations. Luan pointed at a line of figures, a soft murmur escaping his lips. Kevin nodded, his brow furrowed in concentration. They moved with an easy synchronicity, a quiet island in the classroom's mild chaos.
Enzo, seated beside Sebastian, managed to multitask with practiced ease. One hand scrawled answers onto his worksheet, his pen flying across the page. His other elbow nudged Sebastian's side playfully, a constant, low-level irritation. He whispered a sarcastic comment about Sebastian’s previous victim, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Sebastian shot him a glare, but it lacked real venom. He knew Enzo too well. Their banter was an established ritual, a comfortable push and pull. Yet, even as he feigned annoyance, Sebastian's gaze drifted across the room, past the rows of desks, to Luis.
Luis, meanwhile, was a picture of serene detachment. He reclined in his chair, earbuds almost invisible, his thumb swiping lazily across his phone screen. His backpack lay haphazardly at his feet, textbook still closed. Nothing seemed to bother him, not the impending deadline for the history essay, nor Sebastian's low-level chaos.
Suddenly, Enzo pushed off his desk. He moved with a fluid grace, a shadow detaching from Sebastian's side. His steps were light, almost soundless. He approached Luis's desk from behind, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Luis remained absorbed, a faint smile playing on his lips, probably at something on his screen. He didn't notice Enzo until a pair of arms wrapped around his waist. Enzo leaned against Luis's back, a warm weight. He rested his chin on Luis's shoulder, his breath a soft tickle against Luis's ear. His eyes scanned Luis's phone screen, a silent intrusion.
Luis startled, a small jump, then relaxed completely. His shoulders slumped, a comfortable sigh escaping him. He didn't pull away. Instead, he angled the phone slightly, making it easier for Enzo to see. A gentle smile touched Luis's lips, a subtle curve that spoke volumes of their easy intimacy.
A sharp, almost imperceptible intake of breath escaped Sebastian. His teasing grin vanished. He watched the interaction, his jaw tightening just a fraction. A strange heat pricked at the back of his neck, a sudden, unexpected twist in his gut. His eyes narrowed, not in anger, but in a curious, almost possessive analysis.
He leaned closer to Kevin, his voice dropping to a low, rough whisper.
