Chloe’s gaze slid past Isabella, who lingered a step behind Ethan. “No need,” she said, her voice flat. “Olivia’s waiting for me.”
The chill in her tone finally seemed to register with Ethan. He reached out, his fingers closing gently around her wrist. “Chloe, wait a second.” She tried to pull away, but his grip was firm. Without looking at her, he spoke to Isabella. “Go wait in the car.”
