Chapter 9 of 20

Total Bankruptcy of the Wangs

306 words

"Chairman Vance! It's an emergency!" Marcus, Ethan’s top aide, burst into the office, his usual composure shattered. His face was ashen. "The Wang family! They've declared war!" Ethan didn't flinch. He slowly swirled the amber liquid in his glass, his eyes fixed on the city lights below. "War? Don't be so dramatic, Marcus." "Sir, this is not a drill!" Marcus’s voice cracked. "They've leveraged their entire financial dynasty against us. Our primary capital accounts are frozen! They've pressured every bank and supplier—our entire network is paralyzed. They’re boasting they’ll acquire our assets for nothing by morning!" He held up a tablet, the screen flashing with plummeting stock tickers and red alerts. "We're being bled dry!" Ethan finally turned, his gaze so cold it could freeze fire. "The Wangs. The family of that degenerate, Derek Wang. So, this is their idea of revenge." A mirthless smile touched his lips. "They think their little local fortune can challenge the Vance empire? How amusing." "Amusing? Sir, their fortune is in the billions! They are a pillar of this city's economy! They are destroying us!" Marcus pleaded, sweat beading on his forehead. "A pillar?" Ethan chuckled, a low, dangerous sound. "Pillars can be broken." He set his glass down with a soft click and retrieved his phone. His expression was one of profound boredom, as if he were merely swatting a fly. He looked at his frantic aide. "Marcus, what is the total net worth of the Wang dynasty?" "Roughly ten billion dollars, Chairman. A colossal sum." "A rounding error," Ethan murmured, his thumb tapping the screen. "They wanted to play a billionaire's game. They should have checked who their opponent was first." Ethan sent a single text. Five minutes later the stock market convulsed, the Wang family lost ten billion dollars, and the banks seized all of their assets.
