Chapter 2: A Father's Debt

Cold steel bit into the soft flesh of her neck. Crimson droplets trickled down her collarbone, staining the pristine white collar of her torn blouse. Her breath hitched, a fragile sound that died in the damp, heavy air of the warehouse. "Please," Tulin whispered, her voice trembling like a dying flame. "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want from me." Jeon Jungkook didn't blink. His dark, bottomless eyes held no mercy, reflecting only the flickering orange glow of the burning ruins outside the high windows. He pressed the scalpel a fraction of a millimeter deeper, watching her flinch with a sick, detached fascination. "What I want is simple," Jungkook murmured, his voice a low, gravelly baritone that sent shivers of pure terror down her spine. "I want to watch your father burn. But first, I am going to make you mine, so he knows exactly who holds his most precious possession." Rough hands gripped her shoulders, forcing her down onto a cold wooden table. A man in a tailored, blood-spattered suit stepped out of the shadows, placing a thick leather-bound folder in front of her. "Sign it," Jungkook commanded, tossing the silver scalpel onto the table. It landed with a sharp clatter that echoed off the concrete walls. Looking down through a veil of tears, Tulin stared at the black ink of a marriage certificate. Her stomach twisted into a violent knot. Marriage to a monster, a man who looked at her as if she were nothing but dirt beneath his expensive leather shoes. "No," she gasped, shaking her head frantically. "I won't. You can't force me to do this." With a swift, brutal movement, Jungkook grabbed her by the hair, pulling her head back until her neck strained. Pain exploded at her scalp, forcing her to look directly into his cold, merciless eyes. "You think you have a choice, princess?" he sneered, his grip tightening until she whimpered. "You will sign this paper, or I will let my men have their turn with you before I cut your throat. Choose. Now." Sobbing, Tulin felt her fragile resolve shatter into a thousand pieces. She was eighteen, sheltered, and entirely unprepared for the raw brutality of his world. Her trembling hand reached for the pen, her fingers slick with her own sweat and blood. Scribbling her name on the dotted line, she felt as if she were signing her own death warrant. The ink looked like dried blood against the crisp white paper. Jungkook released her hair, letting her face smash against the wooden surface of the table. He snatched the document, a chilling, victorious smirk playing on his lips. "Welcome to the family, Mrs. Jeon," he whispered mockingly. --- Days melted into an agonizing, endless blur. Dragged from the warehouse under the cover of night, Tulin was thrown into the back of a black SUV and driven to a colossal, looming mansion nestled deep in the mountains. It was a fortress of concrete and dark glass, surrounded by armed guards and high metal fences. Locked inside a massive, opulently decorated bedroom on the top floor, she became a ghost in a gilded cage. Silk sheets, crystal chandeliers, and heavy velvet curtains did nothing to mask the suffocating sense of dread that hung in the air. Servants entered twice a day, their faces expressionless, their eyes glued to the floorboards. None of them spoke to her. When she tried to ask questions, they ignored her completely, placing trays of cold, tasteless food on the table before scurrying out and locking the heavy oak door behind them. Isolation began to claw at her mind. She spent her nights curled into a tight ball in the corner of the room, clutching her knees and weeping until her throat was raw. Every shadow seemed to stretch toward her. Every creak of the floorboards made her heart leap into her throat. She prayed for her adoptive father, Park Jin-chul, to burst through the doors with his army of bodyguards and rescue her. He was the most powerful man she knew; surely, he wouldn't let this monster keep her. On the fifth night, the heavy iron lock clicked open. Heavy, deliberate footsteps echoed across the hardwood floor. Tulin scrambled back, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. She watched the doorway as Jungkook stepped into the room, his black suit immaculate, smelling of expensive cologne and the faint, unmistakable scent of metallic copper. "Still crying?" Jungkook asked, his tone dripping with disgust. He stopped at the foot of the bed, looking down at her disheveled state. "How pathetic. The great Park Jin-chul's daughter, reduced to a sniveling mess in a corner." Anger, hot and desperate, flared through her fear. She pushed herself up, using the bedpost to support her shaking legs. She needed to be strong. She needed to remind him of who she was. "My father will kill you for this," Tulin spat, her voice trembling despite her attempt at defiance. "He is Park Jin-chul! He has resources. He has allies. When he finds out what you have done to me, he will tear you and your entire syndicate to pieces!" Jungkook froze. A heavy, suffocating silence descended upon the room. His eyes narrowed, turning into twin slits of pure, unadulterated hatred. Slowly, he walked toward her. Every step felt like a death sentence. Tulin wanted to run, to shrink back into the shadows, but her legs felt like lead. "Your father?" Jungkook whispered, his voice dangerously low. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small, heavy object. He tossed it carelessly onto the polished floorboards between them. *Clink.* It bounced and rolled, coming to a stop right at her bare feet. Tulin looked down. Her breath left her lungs in a sharp, agonizing gasp. Lying on the floor was a heavy gold signet ring. It was her father's signature ring, engraved with the family crest—the very ring he used to seal his most important documents, the ring he never, ever took off. But it wasn't gold anymore. It was covered in thick, dark, dried blood. "No," Tulin whimpered, dropping to her knees. Her hands shook violently as she reached out, her fingers hovering over the bloody piece of metal. "No, no, no. This is a lie. This isn't real." "He threw it at my feet, begging for his life like a dog," Jungkook said, his voice devoid of any warmth. He stepped closer, his shadow completely engulfing her small, trembling frame. Despair, cold and absolute, washed over her. The illusion of her safety, the belief that her powerful father would always protect her, shattered into dust. She was entirely alone in the clutches of a man who despised her very existence. Jungkook knelt down, grabbing her chin in a tight, painful grip, forcing her to look up at his cruel, handsome face. Shocking revelation: Jungkook leans in, his breath cold against her ear, and sneers, "He didn't even try to negotiate for you; he traded your location to buy himself twelve more hours of life."
