Chapter 1: Whispers of the White Dragon

Screaming wind tore at his cloak. Syam moved, a blur of motion across the monster-infested plateau. Twin blades, one humming with crackling blue lightning, the other a fiery crimson, carved through the hulking beast before him. Scales, thick as armor plates, offered little resistance.
Flesh ripped. Roars of pain echoed, guttural and short-lived. A monstrous chimera, its body a grotesque amalgamation of horned boar and winged lion, convulsed, then slammed to the earth. Dust plumed, momentarily obscuring the blood-soaked ground.
Syam barely acknowledged it. His eyes, usually a calm brown, now held an inner glow, a flicker of gold deep within their depths. A faint, almost imperceptible draconic aura pulsed around him, making the air thrum with latent power.
He wiped a stray drop of monster ichor from his cheek with the back of a gauntleted hand. The expedition was nearing its end. Another S-Rank beast eliminated, another threat contained. It was his duty.
"Leader! Status report!" A voice crackled through his comm unit.
"Done. Sweep the perimeter. Look for any stragglers," Syam commanded, his voice deep, calm despite the adrenaline still coursing through him. "The core should be near the heart. Bring it back safely."
His team, an elite squad of A-Rank Hunters from his guild, 'Iron Resolve', moved with practiced efficiency. They knew his expectations. They understood the stakes.
This world, ravaged by dimensional rifts and the monsters that poured from them, demanded constant vigilance. Hunters were the shield. National Hunters like Syam were the tip of the spear.
Days blurred into weeks. Each sunrise brought new challenges, new incursions. He found solace only in the rhythmic clang of steel, the burning heat of his fire blade, the biting sting of lightning from its twin.
