Chapter 2: The Taste of Fear
1.0k words
A whimper tore from Alex's throat, thin and reedy. His body, pinned beneath Bobby's weight, trembled violently. Fear, a potent perfume, hung thick in the stale air of the abandoned mall. Bobby inhaled deeply, savoring it. This was the moment. This was the hunt's grim reward. His metallic braces gleamed, catching the faint, ambient light filtering through a distant skylight. The wires, the brackets, the twisted, augmented canines – they were an extension of his will. They were his power, his claim. Alex's eyes, wide and glistening, reflected Bobby's distorted face, a mosaic of metal and predatory hunger. "Don't look so scared, Alex," Bobby purred, his voice a low rumble, a predator's growl. He leaned closer, the scent of fresh blood already tantalizing him. "This is just us. You and me. And you're so… delicious. So perfectly ripe." Alex thrashed, a desperate, futile struggle against unyielding muscle. His cries were muffled by Bobby's hand, pressing firm against his mouth. Tears streamed down Alex's temples, tracing paths through the grime on his skin. Bobby watched them fall, mesmerized by the sheer, unadulterated terror. "Such a brave little rabbit," Bobby murmured, his thumb stroking Alex's jaw, a gesture so intimate, so perverse. "But rabbits always run, don't they? And predators always catch." His other hand, calloused and strong, traced the delicate curve of Alex's neck. A pulse fluttered beneath his fingertips, a frantic drumbeat. Suddenly, Bobby shifted, repositioning himself. Alex's breath hitched. A fresh wave of panic washed over him, a cold dread that eclipsed even the pain. Bobby's face was inches away, his breath hot against Alex's cheek. The metal gleamed, a terrifying smile. "Open for me, Alex," Bobby whispered, his tone disturbingly tender. "Just a little bit. I promise it won't hurt… much." He removed his hand from Alex's mouth, but his grip on the boy's wrists tightened, rendering escape impossible. Alex tried to scream, a guttural sound choked off before it fully formed. Bobby's jaw unhinged, unnaturally wide. The braces clinked, a sinister chime. Then, a sharp, searing pain exploded in Alex's shoulder. A grotesque tearing sound. Bobby's teeth, the monstrous, metallic-enhanced canines, ripped through flesh, muscle, and sinew. Alex's body arched, a silent scream of agony contorting his face. Blood welled, dark and viscous, staining the grimy floor. Bobby chewed, slowly, deliberately. The braces ground. The molars pulverized. He tasted iron, salt, the raw essence of fear. It was intoxicating. Each bite was a declaration, a reaffirmation of his dominance. The emptiness inside him, a gnawing void that had plagued him since the plague's dawn, receded, momentarily sated. "You taste even better than you look," Bobby mumbled, his mouth full, his eyes fixed on Alex's horror-stricken face. "So sweet. So tender." He leaned down again, this time to Alex's chest. Alex's heart hammered against his ribs, a desperate bird trapped in a cage. He could feel Bobby's hot breath, the metallic scent of his mouth. He could feel the pressure as Bobby's jaw opened, the shadow of the metallic teeth falling over his skin. Another savage tear. Another choked cry. Bobby gorged himself, devouring the soft tissue, the rich, warm blood. He moved with a chilling efficiency, a practiced predator. His hands held Alex down, preventing any real struggle, forcing the boy to witness his own consumption. "Don't fight it," Bobby coaxed, his voice thick, almost a lover's plea, distorted by the gruesome act. "Just let it happen. It's beautiful, isn't it? This intimacy. This connection." He ran his tongue over his braces, clearing away a stray piece of flesh. "You're becoming a part of me, Alex. Forever." Bone cracked. A sickening snap echoed through the cavernous space. Bobby's powerful jaws worked, crushing cartilage and marrow. His braces, designed for orthodontic perfection, had become instruments of ultimate destruction, dismantling Alex's very structure. Alex's movements grew weaker, his body convulsing in sporadic, diminishing spasms. His eyes, though still wide, held a dull, distant glaze. The light was fading from them, extinguished by Bobby's ravenous hunger. Still, Bobby spoke, his words a venomous caress. "You had such pretty hands, too. Don't worry, I won't waste them. Every last bit will be cherished." He moved methodically, a gruesome artist at his work, ensuring nothing was left behind. He gnawed through the ribs, exposing the internal organs. The sight, the smell, the raw, primal act – it thrilled him to his core. He bit into the heart, feeling its last, faint beat against his teeth before he crushed it. The life force, the very essence of Alex, poured into him. This wasn't just about sustenance. This was about power. This was about control. This was about filling the gaping maw of his own abandonment with the utter helplessness of another. Alex's fear, his pain, his very existence, became fuel for Bobby's twisted soul. Bobby continued his gruesome feast, moving from torso to limbs. He pulled, he tore, he chewed. His braces scraped against bone, a high-pitched, grating sound that would forever haunt the silence of the mall. He stripped the flesh clean, leaving only stark, white bones that too, he eventually broke down and consumed. Every sinew, every tendon, every drop of blood was consumed. The metal of his braces, once merely an accessory, now felt like an integral part of him, a sharpened extension of his predatory will. He was a machine, designed for this, perfected by the plague. When he finally finished, the silence in the mall was absolute. Nothing remained of Alex but a few smears of blood on the floor, quickly licked clean. Bobby stood over the empty space, his chest heaving, a strange calm washing over him. The void was quiet. For now. His lips were slick, his chin smeared crimson. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, a primal, satisfied gesture. He was full. More than full. He was satiated, a dark, profound contentment settling deep within him. The control was absolute. He had taken. He had consumed. He had eradicated. There was no one to abandon him now, no one to leave him alone. He was the one who left nothing. Suddenly, a faint, almost imperceptible tremor shook the mall, a distant thud vibrating through the floorboards as if something colossal is approaching.
