Chapter 2 of 3

Once More, Anew

295 words

The moment Alpay opens his eyes, he sees a swarm of monsters all around him. At first, he is startled, but he feels no fear whatsoever. In fact, he senses zero threat, as if he is looking at long-lost friends. However, his vision feels unfamiliar; the demons look different, far less hideous than the legends described. He even spots some among them who are remarkably handsome and beautiful. Every single one of them has dropped to one knee before him, staying as still as statues. A male demon stands up, approaches him, and kneels once more. "Your birth has brought us immense joy and excitement. Welcome to the world you will conquer, our Supreme King." Alpay notices that the words spoken to him sound different, carrying a strange resonance. It is muffled and hard to decipher, as if the speaker's mouth is full of food. Even though he struggles to comprehend it at first, he gradually regains his senses and understands them better. The first words to escape his own lips are, "I... I’ve been reborn. But how? How did I die?" A heavy weight suddenly crashes down on his mind, forcing him to drop to his knees as he clutches his head. The demon in front of him instantly moves to support him, asking, "Are you alright, my Supreme Lord?" Alpay shakes his head and replies, "Yes, I’m fine, but my head is splitting. Memories are flooding into my mind, but they are blurry and incomplete. Don't worry, I'll be fine." The demon cannot fully comprehend these words, yet he carefully supports Alpay and helps him over to his throne. Alpay is still speaking the language of humans, and even though the demons are somewhat familiar with it, they cannot grasp its meaning completely.
